Boy Meets World’s Will Friedle Reacts to Ben Savage’s Absence From Reunion Documentary
The Boy Meets World cast is wishing Ben Savage all the best.
Indeed, Will Friedle—who costarred alongside Savage, Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong in the ’90s sitcom—addressed his former castmate's absence from the Doc Meets World documentary.
“There’s always hope,” Friedle exclusively told E! News in a joint interview with Fishel and Strong at the Doc Meets World premiere June 6. “There’s been no change but everybody’s gotta take their own paths in life. We’re totally fine with that.”
“Everybody’s gotta look back on their life how they’re gonna look back on their life,” he added. “This is the way we’ve decided to do it. Ben’s decided to go another route.”
But the door is open should Savage have a change of heart.
“We love him,” Friedle continued, “and always will and there’s always hope.”
And Fishel is on the same page. As she added, “Couldn’t agree more.”
Doc Meets World follows Friedle, Fishel and Strong on the sold-out national live tour of their popular rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, which Savage also opted out of joining.
Previously, Friedle—who played Savage’s onscreen brother Eric Matthews in Boy Meets World—shared insight into the 45-year-old’s estrangement from the rest of the cast.
“Ben is one of the most important people I’ve ever met in my life and I can’t stand the fact that he won’t speak to us,” the Kim Possible star said during a February 2025 episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, which he cohosts with Strong and Fishel. “And that’s what it is: He won’t speak to us.”

“I can show you the last three years, literally, of messages and in the middle of a conversation with Ben, he just bailed on me,” the 49-year-old continued. “Ben absolutely one day woke up and said, ‘I don’t want Will in my life,’ and never told me why.”
E! News previously reached out to Savage’s reps for comment but did not hear back.
In 2023, Friedle described the estrangement as a “sore subject,” detailing his early attempts to reestablish contact after Savage seemingly “disappeared.”
“I’ve known him since he was 11 years old, and we have a shared history,” he told Variety at the time. “I tried and tried and tried for months, until finally my wife was like, ‘Why are you doing this to yourself? He obviously doesn’t want you in his life.’”
