
COTABATO CITY – Six linemen from the Cotabato Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Cotelco) have been deployed to General Santos City as part of the “Task Force Kapatid” program to help restore electricity in areas served by South Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Socoteco II) that were affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake.
Cotelco General Manager Joel V. De Guzman Jr. said the deployment aims to accelerate power restoration efforts and ensure the immediate resumption of electricity services vital to households, businesses, industries, and government offices in affected communities.

The Cotelco contingent is composed of Erwin Obedencia, Joseph Mariit, Jovanie Espartero, John Rey Palma, Christopher Teric, and Danny Cabasag, all of whom are experienced in line maintenance and power restoration operations.

De Guzman personally accompanied the team to General Santos City to assess the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake and determine other forms of assistance and support that Cotelco could extend to ongoing restoration efforts.
“Task Force Kapatid” is a mutual aid program among electric cooperatives nationwide, implemented in partnership with the National Electrification Administration and the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association.
The program provides immediate manpower, equipment, and other resources to electric cooperatives affected by natural disasters and other emergencies.
The initiative has proven vital during previous major calamities, including the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas and Typhoon Odette in the Caraga Region, helping speed up the restoration of electricity services in affected areas. /jpv
