Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is targeting to build and renovate around 300 to 400 hospitals across districts in Indonesia in the next three years as part of efforts to bolster national health services.
"Over the next three years, we will build and renovate 300 to 400 hospitals across every district in Indonesia," he said during the inauguration of the K.H. Muhammad Thohir Krui Regional General Hospital in West Pesisir District, Lampung Province, as monitored online on Wednesday.
The programme has been planned in collaboration with the Health Ministry and stands one of the government’s top priorities to improve public access to high-quality healthcare services.
In addition, the Indonesian government aims to modernise around 10,000 community health centers (puskesmas) across the nation to bolster basic healthcare services at the local level.

He emphasised that the programme is part of a broader transformation of the national health system, ensuring that the public—especially those in remote areas—can access better healthcare without having to travel long distances to major cities.
Indonesian government is currently beginning to implement the programme. Throughout 2025, the government built 22 regional general hospitals, with plans to construct another 22 new hospitals in 2026.
This initiative has shown progress, with the completion of 20 hospitals in the first phase, which are now operational and serving the public.
President Prabowo Subianto expressed hope that accelerating the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities will strengthen the quality of medical services across Indonesia while reducing regional disparities in healthcare access.
