Bogor City (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is targeting the rehabilitation and renovation of 1,397 madrasas nationwide under a Rp4 trillion (US$224.4 million) Quick-Win program aimed at improving educational facilities and human development outcomes.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said on Friday that 548 madrasas in 26 provinces have already been completed with a budget of around Rp1.3 trillion.
He added that the largest portion of the program covers 836 madrasas under multi-year contracts for 2025-2026, with overall progress reaching 62 percent.
According to AHY, the initiative was launched following the collapse of a building at an Islamic boarding school in Sidoarjo, East Java, and aims to provide safer learning facilities for students across the country.
