Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a courtesy call from Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar, including investment cooperation and preparations for the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written statement that during the meeting, the Qatari minister conveyed warm greetings and high appreciation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to President Prabowo.
“The Emir of Qatar also praised President Prabowo’s leadership and Indonesia's economic progress, particularly expressing support for healthcare, education, and nutritious meal programs,” Teddy said.
In addition, the meeting discussed the Emir's planned visit to Indonesia in late 2026, which is expected to provide major momentum for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-Qatar diplomatic relations.
During the meeting, Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening its various investments in Indonesia.
The Qatari government conveyed an investment commitment worth US$4 billion while paving the way for expanded investment in various other strategic sectors.
This commitment reflects Qatar’s confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects and forms part of a broader effort to deepen a mutually beneficial partnership between the two Muslim-majority nations.
The investment cooperation is expected to support Indonesia’s national development agenda, strengthen strategic sectors, and deliver tangible benefits to both Indonesian and Qatari citizens.
