Wheel of Fortune's Pat Sajak Shares Puzzling Retirement Update—and You'll Do a Double Take

Pat Sajak is living the ranch life—sort of.

The former Wheel of Fortune host gave an update on his post-retirement life, saying he’d recently moved to Montana. However, fans were quick to note that the game show legend might be teasing just a tiny bit.

“Hi, know that a lot of you have been wondering—asking me how I'm doing,” Sajak began in a video shared to X June 14. “And I'm enjoying life. I moved here to Montana and everything is going just great.”

However, the 79-year-old was certainly not in Montana as he filmed his video in front of a pool with the ocean in the background, surrounded by palm trees.

“So I just want to say hello,” he continued as the sound of a cow mooing came from the distance. “You'll have to excuse me, I have some cattle to attend to. Here boy.”

Of course, many fans were quick to jump in on the joke alongside Sajak.

“That takes me back to those lazy days surfing in Butte,” one person wrote in the comments. Another added, “Some of them Montana beach cows. I herd of them.”

Meanwhile, there was at least one person who was incredibly confused by the video, joking, “Bro had me second guessing my geography for a sec.”

Since retiring from Wheel of Fortune in 2024, Sajak—who shares son Michael Sajak, 35, and daughter Maggie Sajak with wife Lesly Brown—has kept a relatively low profile. Although he did flex his acting muscles in 2025, starring in a revival of the play Prescription: Murder at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu.

"I'm realistic enough to know the people aren't gonna be banging my door down," he told Hawaii news station KHON in 2023, "but I'll take projects if they come."

Still, he was looking forward to the new chapter of his post-Wheel life. Though he admittedly did have some nerves about what was to come.

"I suspect most of my time will be whittling on the front porch," Sajak teased. "But don't know how to whittle and I don't have a front porch. So that'll be a challenge."
