Four foreign men have been arrested in connection with two separate police operations targeting alleged drug trafficking in St Julian’s and the illegal cultivation of cannabis in Naxxar.
The first arrests took place on Sunday evening after police received information about alleged drug trafficking in Triq San Ġorġ, St Julian’s. Officers identified and searched two Somali men, aged 24 and 30, and allegedly found around 30 sachets containing substances suspected to be cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
In a separate operation on Monday morning, police carried out a raid at a residence in Triq it-Torri tal-Kaptan, Naxxar, arresting a 27-year-old Dutch man and a 31-year-old Swedish man.
During the raid, officers seized around 50 cannabis plants, as well as cannabis resin and equipment allegedly linked to the cultivation of the drug.
All four men are being held at the Police lock-up in Floriana and are expected to be arraigned in court before Magistrate Nadine Sant Lia later today.
