
BACOLOD CITY – Kanlaon Volcano emitted ash 19 times and had 18 volcanic earthquakes in the last two days, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The volcano had six ash emissions on Tuesday, the longest of which lasted from 8:58 a.m. to 12:31 p.m., or for three hours and 33 minutes.

Phivolcs said the event generated grayish plumes that rose 500 meters above the crater before drifting southwest, as captured by the IP camera at the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory in Canlaon City.

An ash emission that started at 3:35 p.m. was still ongoing on Tuesday.
Other ash emissions on Tuesday occurred at 2:41 a.m. to 2:42 a.m., 2:56 a.m. to 2:59 a.m., 4:19 a.m. to 4:43 a.m. and 12:49 p.m. to 1:04 p.m., Phivolcs reported.
Phivolcs also reported that from 12 a.m. Monday to 12 a.m. Tuesday, there were 12 ash emissions at Kanlaon and 18 volcanic earthquakes, including 11 volcanic tremors.
Kanlaon also emitted 979 tons of sulfur.
The volcano remains under Alert Level 2 or increase unrest. /jpv
