The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the temporary closure of Iddo Bridge in the Ijora area of Apapa Local Government Area, as rehabilitation works continue on the facility.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
The government said the Federal Ministry of Works will carry out the installation of heavy steel bridge beams as part of the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the bridge.
It stated that the operation would require a temporary closure of the bridge at scheduled periods to ensure safety during the installation process.
According to the statement, “The entire section of Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the periods stated above to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams on the bridge.”
The operation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during the closure periods.

It added that “Motorists travelling from Marina to Ijora Olopa, Apapa and Costain should descend the ramp to access Iddo-Onigbe to connect Oyingbo, and continue their journeys via Murtala Muhammed Way.”
For those moving from Ijora Olopa/Apapa towards Carter Bridge or Marina, the government said “Motorists travelling from Ijora Olopa/Apapa towards Carter Bridge/Marina should use Eko Bridge by connecting Apapa Road to continue their journeys through Murtala Muhammed Way via Iddo-Onigbe and Carter Bridge.”
The government urged commuters to remain patient during the period of disruption.
The statement further advised that “motorists are implored to be patient and cooperate with the traffic management officials during the temporary closure.”
It explained that the exercise forms part of broader traffic management measures supporting ongoing bridge rehabilitation works by the Federal Ministry of Works in Lagos.
