Housewife arraigned over attack on husband

A housewife, Fatima Ibrahim Gaida, has been arraigned before a Sharia Court sitting along Post Office Road in Kano Municipality over allegations that she conspired with and paid hoodlums N50,000 to attack her husband following a domestic dispute.

The court registrar read charges of conspiracy, threatening behaviour, and causing bodily harm against the defendant.

In her statement before the court, Fatima admitted that her husband had beaten her during an argument at their home and reportedly told her she could do nothing about it. She said she acted out of anger and subsequently invited hoodlums to attack him.

The court also heard that she was accused of directing the attackers to assault her co-wife’s son, which allegedly resulted in injuries.

According to the complainant, who is her husband, the attackers contacted him and lured him out of his home before assaulting him.

After listening to both parties, the presiding judge, Justice Garba Hamza Malafa, ordered the police to carry out further investigations and report back to the court.

He, however, directed that the accused should not be detained pending the outcome of the investigation.
