Indonesia shuts down illegal foreign-owned beauty clinic in Bali

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian authorities have shut down an illegally operated, foreign-owned beauty clinic in Bali for operating without permits and employing unauthorized foreign nationals, including Russian and Armenian citizens, officials said Wednesday.

The Health Ministry said the closure of the PRIME Skin Clinic—formerly known as Elasto Beauty—was part of a broader government effort to protect the public from hazardous, unregulated medical procedures.

"This law enforcement through closure is carried out not only to protect people, but also maintain global trust of Bali as a safe, high-quality, and trustworthy wellness tourism destination," said Aji Muhawarman, head of the Health Ministry's communication and public information bureau.

The raid followed a joint investigation involving the ministries of health, foreign affairs, immigration, and manpower, alongside the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

Investigators confirmed the facility was completely absent from the Health Ministry’s Healthcare Facility Registry and lacked an operational license.

Furthermore, several medical and healthcare workers from Russia and Armenia were found practicing at the clinic without official permits or documentation.

Under Indonesian law, medical services may only be administered by qualified professionals holding an official Registration Letter (STR) and a Medical License (SIP).

Local health authorities in Badung, Bali, have secured evidence to support further legal proceedings.

"Right now, the facility has been handled and shut down," Muhawarman said, adding that multi-agency task forces are prepared to take firm legal action spanning healthcare, immigration, and labor violations.

The ministry warned that practicing medicine without a license or utilizing unapproved medical devices constitutes a severe offense, urging travelers and locals alike to verify the legal status of healthcare providers through official government channels.
