Olivia Wilde Breaks Silence on Harry Styles Romance, Jason Sudeikis Split
Olivia Wilde is looking back on her time with ex Harry Styles as it was.
A little more than three years after their breakup, the Don’t Worry Darling director shared insight into her relationship with the One Direction alum, noting that people were “f--king pissed” once they started dating.
“It really did upset people,” Olivia said during the June 17 episode of Call Her Daddy, in reference to their age gap. (At the time they started dating, Harry was 26 and Olivia is 10 years his senior). “It was crazy, I don’t know how much I understand it yet. That’s one of the factors that I never really felt I like fully…I don’t know, people were f--king pissed.”
Olivia—who shares kids Otis and Daisy with ex Jason Sudeikis—also noted the public response may have also had to do with a “parasocial relationship” some may have with the singer.
“It’s wild ‘cause we had the loveliest relationship,” she shared. “Like so, so sweet and so beautiful and like really, actually very domestic and kind and lovely."
"I think that we existed in this little bubble," she continued, "and the judgement never really got into that bubble, which was a miracle and testament to us to making that happen.”
Olivia’s rare comments come after she and Harry began dating months after he signed on to costar in her psychological thriller, Don't Worry Darling in late 2020. Shortly before filming wrapped in early 2021, Olivia—whose relationship with Sudeikis officially ended earlier that year—reflected to Vogue about having the singer star in the headline-making movie.

"[Arianne Phillips] (costume designer) and I did a little victory dance when we heard that we officially had Harry in the film, because we knew that he has a real appreciation for fashion and style," Olivia shared at the time. "I'm really grateful that he is so enthusiastic about that element of the process—some actors just don't care."
And when Harry decided to wear a dress for his own Vogue photo shoot, Olivia was one of his most vocal supporters.
"To me, he's very modern and I hope that this brand of confidence as a male that Harry has—truly devoid of any traces of toxic masculinity—is indicative of his generation and therefore the future of the world," she told Vogue. "I think he is in many ways championing that, spearheading that. It's pretty powerful and kind of extraordinary to see someone in his position redefining what it can mean to be a man with confidence."
And though Harry and Olivia remained mostly tight-lipped on their relationship before ultimately splitting in 2022, Olivia previously noted that it was "obviously really tempting to correct a false narrative" when it came to them as a couple.
"But I think what you realize is that when you're really happy," she told Vogue in 2021, "it doesn't matter what strangers think about you. All that matters to you is what's real, and what you love, and who you love."
