Far-right general-turned-politician
Roberto Vannacci has ruled out an alliance between his new
National Future (FN) party and Giorgia Meloni's centre-right
coalition, the Italian premier said Wednesday saying that she
had o govern well to hope to win the next general election
slated for autumn next year.
Polls show that an alliance with FN would tip the balance in
favour of Meloni getting re-elected.
"It seems to me that Futuro Nazionale has closed off" an
alliance with the centre right," Meloni told a press conference
following the G7 summit in France.
"I'm not considering the issue. To win the elections," you have
to "govern well. The rest is just alchemy. I'm focusing on doing
my job as best I can."
Remigration and anti-woke campaigner Vannacci, former deputy
leader of Meloni partner the League, is widely expected to hook
back up with Meloni after the next election, to ensure a renewed
majority for her, despite current statements about staying
separate.
