PDEA seizes P1.95B worth of illegal drugs in May 2026

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 3,702 drug personalities and P1.95 billion worth of illegal drugs were arrested and seized in the month of May 2026, said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Wednesday.

According to the PDEA in a statement, the figures reflect the 2,941 operations conducted from May 1 to 31 where 18 illegal drug facilities were also dismantled by authorities.

The breakdown of illegal substances seized are as follows:

157.30 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride)

8.99 kilograms of cocaine

1,711 pieces of ecstasy

2,489.83 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves and bricks

Meanwhile, included in the suspects arrested were the following:

125 from High-Impact Operations (HIO)

33 drug den maintainers

21 Target-Listed Personalities

20 Regional Target-Listed Personalities

27 other High-Value Targets

5 elected officials

4 government employees

1 uniformed personnel

1 foreign national

1 resurgent personality

“The inclusion of elected officials, government personnel, and a member of the uniformed service underscores a clear message: position and authority offer no protection from accountability,” PDEA director general Isagani Nerez said.

“This operation reflects our continued whole-of-nation approach against illegal drugs,” he added. /cb
