
Kathmandu, June 18
Kathmandu Model College (KMC), Bagbazar, is set to host Nepal’s first-ever national-level hackathon exclusively for Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) students from June 19 to 21.
Organized by the KMC TechVerse Club, the 48-hour event titled “HONOR Presents KMC HackVerse 2026” aims to provide a national platform for innovation, collaboration and technological excellence among BCA students across the country.
According to the organizers, students currently enrolled in BCA programs at various colleges in Nepal will participate in the competition. More than 50 teams applied for the event, and 15 teams were selected after their project proposals were evaluated.
Prince Karna, Head of EMIS and IT at KMC, said that more than 10 expert mentors will guide participants throughout the hackathon. Organizing committee member Bidhan Thapa said the competition features a prize pool of more than Rs 100,000, along with vouchers worth over Rs 80,000 provided by partner organizations.
The event has HONOR as the title sponsor and is powered by LeadX Nepal in collaboration with Idea Studio Nepal. More than 10 organizations, including LED Nepal, IBSS Nepal, Singapore Beverages, Bajaj, PYCUS, Skill Labs, Code IT, Gripas Marketing, Anuron Academy and Red Bull Nepal, are supporting the initiative.
Dhurba Prasad Timalsina, Head of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at KMC, expressed confidence that the hackathon would encourage innovation, strengthen technical skills and foster a culture of collaboration among students.
KMC Chief Surendra Subedi said the event would provide participants with an opportunity to network with industry experts, demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving abilities, and showcase their talents on a national stage.
KMC TechVerse Club President Samira Shrestha said the selected teams will compete over 48 hours to develop innovative technology-based solutions and present their ideas before judges and mentors.
