Bunnie Xo Breaks Silence on Jelly Roll Divorce: "We're Still Having a Baby”
Bunnie Xo wanted to be with Jelly Roll until the wheels fell off.
Days after it was revealed the “Bloodline” singer had filed for divorce on May 18, she detailed the end of the couple’s marriage, admitting that their issues had been brewing over the past year as they both stopped being open with each other.
But the decision to formally break up was “not mutual” for Bunnie, even when their tension finally reached a boiling point on May 10.
“On Mother's Day we had a little bit of an argument, which I don't think the details are necessary,” Bunnie shared on the June 18 episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. “I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and I said, ‘Well, then file the f--king divorce papers.’”
“And in our relationship that is the one cardinal thing that you don't say,” she added. “Even though my husband has said it numerous times ‘cause he's the runner.”
But as the 46-year-old explained, her saying it held more weight as she’s “not the type of person who says what I don't mean.”
Bunnie (real name Alisa DeFord) then packed a bag and left the couple’s home and didn’t talk to her husband (real name Jason DeFord) for about a week.

“During that, he was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers,” she recalled. “Was I blindsided? And was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual. Even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration.”
Still, she was able to see the silver-lining, musing, “Was it necessary for us to have a wakeup call and to actually start having these real conversations? Absolutely.”
Bunnie—who said she lost 15 pounds and started hormone replacement therapy as well as counseling after the document was filed—originally hoped that she and Jelly Roll, 41, would be able to work it out.
“He’s my best friend. I don't care how f--ked up our relationship was—which it wasn't that f--ked up. I don't care how much we didn't communicate or how things shook out. I was riding with this motherf--ker till the wheels fell off,” she said. “I didn't care. I felt like we deserved a chance to go to therapy and figure s--t out.”

“He didn't feel that way and I respect it,” Bunnie continued. “It took me a month and a half now to respect that. But I'm so happy. So, so, so happy.”
In fact, Bunnie was elated that she and the Grammy winner—who is dad to kids Bailee Ann, 18, and Noah, 9, from prior relationships—were “ending this marriage on the best possible terms” and had managed to settle their divorce in a matter of weeks.
“I joke around with him, I'm like, ‘Well, you didn't take care of me in the marriage, but you're taking care of me in the divorce,’” she laughed. “So we stan a f--king king. I'm allowed to say that because it's true.”
As for the couple’s fertility journey? The duo are still planning on becoming parents together.
"You guys are going to be shocked to hear this, but we're still having a baby,” she shared. “We have been the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered."
