Cotabato City – A 59-year-old man was arrested after authorities seized from him suspected illegal drugs, firearms, ammunition, and a fragmentation grenade during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Tigbawan, Pigcawayan town, Cotabato on Thursday, June 18.
Major Maxim Peralta, Pigcawayan police chief, identified the suspect as Redentor Necessario, 46, a farmer and resident of Barangay Tigbawan.

Peralta said a joint team composed of personnel from the Pigcawayan police station, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PPDEU) of the Cotabato Police Provincial Office, successfully served the search warrant in the suspect’s residence in Purok Duranta, Barangay Tigbawan at past 6 p.m.
He said that during the search, operatives recovered an MK2 fragmentation grenade, a 12-gauge shotgun without a serial number, a .45-caliber Colt MKIV pistol, one steel magazine, seven rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, and two shotgun shells.
Authorities also seized nine sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P24,480, as well as two packs of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Following the discovery of the contraband, the suspect was immediately arrested and informed of his constitutional rights in accordance with the Miranda Doctrine.
The suspect and the confiscated evidence were brought to the Pigcawayan police station for proper documentation, drug testing, and ballistic examination while the filing of appropriate charges is being prepared. /jpv
