One person dead after crash outside Gisborne

One person has died following a crash west of Gisborne.

Police say the single-vehicle crash happened on Wharekopae Road in Pātūtahi around 5:20pm on Friday.

One person died at the scene, while multiple others were injured.

On Friday, Hato Hone St John said thirteen of its vehicles were sent to the scene, including five ambulances and three helicopters.

It said five people were in a serious condition, three in a moderate condition, and three in a minor condition.

Gisborne Police want anyone who witnessed the crash, or with information about it, to contact them directly or via the 105 non-emergency number, quoting the reference number P066755884.
