MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has advised motorists to renew their licenses before July 31, 2026 to avoid any penalties.
According to the LTO, the extension of the validity of driver’s license, conductor’s license, student driver’s permit, and registration of vehicles will end on July 31, 2026 as stated under the Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5157.

The agency also advised the motorists to coordinate with their nearest LTO offices or visit its official social media pages for verified information.
The LTO earlier announced that it extended for three months the validity of licenses and registrations starting April 2026, which covers driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student permits, and motor vehicle registrations. During this period, the LTO has waived penalties for late renewal of these documents.
The LTO noted that the directive to extend the validity period was in line with the declaration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of national energy emergency amid the rising of fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict. /mr
