MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) urged motorists to renew their driver’s licenses on or before July 31, 2026 to avoid incurring penalties.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that the extension of the validity of driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student driver’s permits, and vehicle registrations will end on July 31, 2026, in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5157.
“After the said date, expired licenses, permits, and vehicle registrations that have not yet been renewed will be subject to the existing regulations and the corresponding penalties for late renewal,” the LTO said in an advisory.

The agency also advised the motorists to coordinate with their nearest LTO offices or visit its official social media pages for verified information.
The LTO earlier announced that it extended for three months the validity of licenses and registrations starting April 2026, which covers driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student permits, and motor vehicle registrations. During this period, the LTO has waived penalties for late renewal of these documents.
The LTO noted that the directive to extend the validity period was in line with the declaration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of national energy emergency amid the rising of fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict.
