
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — All courts in the municipality of Socorro, Oriental Mindoro, will suspend operations on June 22 in observance of the town’s founding anniversary, according to an advisory from the Supreme Court.
The suspension covers regular court work and proceedings for the day, allowing local courts to participate in the municipality’s commemorative activities.

The Supreme Court said the filing of time-bound pleadings, as well as the issuance of time-bound resolutions and decisions, will likewise be suspended during the work stoppage.

However, urgent matters requiring immediate court action will continue to be addressed. These include applications for bail, release orders, petitions for writs of habeas corpus, and other similar urgent remedies.
To ensure uninterrupted access to justice in emergency cases, courts in Socorro will maintain sufficient personnel to process and act on urgent requests while regular operations remain suspended.
Normal court operations are expected to resume after the one-day suspension. INQ
