Dizon tells Robredo infrastructure projects in Naga City will be finished

MANILA, Philippines — Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon has committed to the completion and continuity of several infrastructure projects in Naga City, Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo said on Saturday.

Dizon met with Robredo on Saturday in Naga City as the secretary inspected Maharlika Highway and other several projects.

Robredo noted that these projects have been requested by the national government.

In February, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited Naga City with Dizon for the inspection of the current administration’s Oplan Kontra Baha program.

The mayor had described as “good news” the following commitments that the secretary made:

Completion of the Naga Airport in Pili, Camarines Sur

Completion of Almeda-Mabolo Bypass Road/Bridge by the first quarter of 2027

Continued work under the Oplan Kontra Baha program, including the dredging of Naga River, Sagop Creek, and opening and clearing of major waterways

Asphalt overlay of General Luna Street and other major roads in Naga

Robredo also said National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda met with them on Saturday to discuss the proposed underground cabling project in the city.

She added that the collaboration of the Department of Public Works and Highways and NEA is important in making the model for urban mobility “towards a safer and more resilient Naga.”

In a separate press release, Almeda said that the initiative on the underground cabling project will serve as a pilot for the entire country.

“The underground cabling project aims to enhance the reliability and safety of the city’s power distribution infrastructure, particularly during severe weather conditions, through the removal of overhead utility lines,” the NEA said. /apl
