
MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo de Manila University is getting ready to repatriate the remains of Ateneo Blue Eagles basketball player Divine Adili to Nigeria, the school said Saturday.
“As part of the University’s continuing commitment to Divine Adili and his family, preparations are underway for the repatriation of Divine’s remains to Nigeria, where he will be laid to rest in accordance with his family’s wishes,” Ateneo wrote in a Facebook post.
According to the university, it will send two representatives to accompany Adili, one of them being Fr. Munching de Guzman, SJ, the college chaplain.

Ateneo said that documentary and travel arrangements are still being finalized in coordination with Adili’s family and relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, “preparations continue to ensure that Divine’s return home is carried out with dignity, care and respect,” it added.
Adili, along with fellow player Rene Baterbonia, drowned in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8 during a reported team-building activity. /apl
