
Voting has commenced in several polling units across Ekiti State as residents head to the polls to elect a governor.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the state has 1,059,360 registered voters, out of which 1,028,929 voters have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The election is taking place across 2,445 polling units in the State’s 16 local Government Areaa.
Fifteen political parties are participating in the election, with the incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Dr Wole Oluyede is contesting on the PDP.

The ADC has fielded Ambassador Dare Bejide, while David Opeyemi Falegan is the candidate of the Accord Party.
Weekend Trust correspondents monitoring the exercise report that voting has begun in a number of polling units, with electoral officials and security personnel deployed to ensure a smooth process.
