Singer Cacai Mitra, sister of Regine Velasquez, raised concerns with Meralco after her electricity bill for her residential house reached over P94,000.
Mitra showed via her Facebook page her bill from May 8 to June 7 which amounted to P94,355.21.
“Ayoko na sana makisabay, pero mahimatay naman ako dito Meralco,” she said, referring to the several complaints from consumers after the electric power provider implemented a recent increase in its rates.

(I really didn’t want to say anything but I might faint here, Meralco. I’m already very conscious about our electricity use. This is just a residential house, not a commercial building.)
After Mitra’s post went viral on social media, Meralco released a statement on the matter and said that the singer’s electricity bill is consistent with her recorded consumption.
“Ms. Cacai’s account is classified as a high-load service and there was no unusual surge in her consumption, which is also reflected in the historical chart in her bill,” Meralco said.
“The actual consumption remains within the normal range of her previous bills, both when compared with the preceding months and with the same period last year,” it added.
Meralco noted that they have reached out to Mitra regarding the matter to discuss the details of her billing. /edv
