EXCLUSIVE: After 20 years, Nick and Suzanne are back for another ride in the third film in the Are We There Yet? franchise.
Ice Cube and Nia Long are reuniting for Are They Gone Yet?, which is currently in early development after being acquired by Skydance Sports, two decades after the pair starred alongside each other in Are We There Yet? (2005) and Are We Done Yet? (2007).
In the latest installment of the comedy franchise, written by Chris Hazzard and Mike Fontana, Nick faces his biggest challenge yet… grandkids.
“We built something special with this franchise. Audiences grew up with Nick Persons, and now Nick’s got grandkids. Time flies,” says Ice Cube. “Partnering with Skydance to bring this story to a new generation is exactly the kind of move CubeVision was built for, and I am excited for the new partnership.”
In the first movie, bachelor Nick (Ice Cube) has to adjust his lifestyle for his crush Suzanne (Long) when he agrees to transport her kids Lindsey (Aleisha Allen) and Kevin (Philip Daniel Bolden) to their grandmother’s house in his prized Lincoln Navigator. The sequel sees the family moving to the suburbs as Nick clashes with their contractor Chuck (John C. McGinley).
With the movies grossing more than $156M worldwide, TBS adapted Are We There Yet? into a sitcom, which starred Terry Crews and Essence Atkins, running for three seasons from 2010 to 2013.
Are They Gone Yet? is produced by Broken Road and CubeVision, with producers Ice Cube, Todd Garner and Jeff Kwatinetz. Executive producers are Ben Hurwitz and Lauren Gennawey.
Ice Cube is represented by UTA and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Todd Garner is represented by Patrick Knapp at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson, & Christopher, LLP.
