Breaking Down Love Island's Code Words for Sex: French Fries, Journey and More
Forget the bombshells, as the popularity of Love Island (both the OG UK version and its across-the-pond sibling) grows, a whole new lexicon has entered the villa.
Because while even casual fans understand the etymology behind terms such as Casa Amor (a big twist that sees couples separated and tested with new bombshells), cracking on (pursuing a new romance) and the ick (the moment your potential mate turns you off), Love Island USA contestants Kenzie Annis and Corbin Mims dished out a new one on the June 21 episode.
It started with Trinity Tatum getting a bit, uh, salty and asking who had been doing "French fries" the night before, noting that what she and partner Bryce Dettloff overheard in their shared sleeping quarters was "too wet" for your standard make out.
The question prompted Kenzie to serve up the truth about her late-night snack.
"I was definitely getting some French fries. Feeling good," she shared in a confessional. "We were probably doing a bit much, honestly, but I feel a strong connection with Corbin. And we probably got a little bit carried away."
By indulging that particular craving, they introduced another term into the Love Island glossary, narrator Iain Stirling joking, "I foresee that, in approximately 30 seconds, millions of Americans will Google: 'French fries sex.'"
Redditors were quick to nail down the secret recipe, one surmising, "French fries are a 'finger' food."
And it wasn't the first time the series' contestants had cooked up new terms for getting busy.

Not wanting to talk about sex, baby, "We had a code name for intimacy," Love Island USA season seven standout Hannah Fields recently explained to Us Weekly. "We would say, 'How was your journey? What was this journey like?'"
She credited costar Huda Mustafa with taking the first step when she "said something like, 'Oh, I had a journey. My journey went all the way.'"
Similarly, during season six of Love Island UK, contestants crafted a whole plate of terms to describe their bedroom behavior, including tomato, avocado, toast and the full English breakfast. (As for the crew down under on Love Island Australia, their word revolved around sausages.)
And since there's plenty of content to consume, the Islanders coupling up, turning their head and recoupling six nights a week, there are always new entries into the official Love Island dictionary.
See: grafting (i.e. putting in the work to pursue someone) and being mugged off (or ditched, basically) by your partner.
So, as the latest batch of couples on UK and USA progress from exclusive to official and possibly enjoy a fry or two along the way, study up on these series secrets.
