WasteCo Group director and chair Roger Gower says he will step down from the board on 17 July but will continue as interim chief executive until a replacement is found.
Gower took over as interim chief executive of the waste management firm a year ago, when the then chief executive unexpectedly resigned after just 15 months in the job and less than a month after the workplace death of staff member Lynda Kelly.
As well as his role at WasteCo, Gower is the chief executive of another business and holds leadership roles on several other boards.
Still, Gower has served as a director of WasteCo since its listing on the NZX Main Board in December 2022 and chaired the company through significant changes.
Director Sean Joyce, also chief executive of major WasteCo shareholder Empire Capital, will take on the role of chair from 17 July.
Gower said the company was still looking to recruit a permanent chief executive. He was unavailable for further comment.
