A Maltese photographer has captured a breathtaking moment that most people never get to see: the exact instant a firework bursts from its shell.
Local photographer Dwardu managed to snap two remarkable images during Mqabba’s kaxxa tal-ħruġ, freezing a split-second moment that usually passes too quickly for the human eye to catch.
One photograph captures the precise instant the firework shell explodes open, while the second shows the display beginning to bloom into the night sky moments later.
The images offer a unique perspective on Malta’s renowned fireworks tradition and highlight the incredible timing and technical skill required to capture such a fleeting moment.
After being shared online, the photographs quickly gained traction, attracting nearly 800 likes along with hundreds of reactions and comments from impressed viewers. Many praised Dwardu’s patience, technical skill and impeccable timing, noting how difficult it is to capture a firework at precisely the right fraction of a second.
Have you ever seen a firework captured like this before?
