Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas) and Turkiye-based International Organization for Human Development (4TDK) agreed to strengthen collaboration on humanitarian programs for Palestine, aiming to ensure sustained and uninterrupted assistance.
At a recent meeting in Jakarta, both sides aligned steps to scale up humanitarian missions for displaced Palestinians, especially in war-torn Gaza, according to a statement cited on Tuesday.
Baznas Head for Distribution, Utilization, and Empowerment Idy Muzayyad stressed during the forum that his agency and the wider Indonesian public remain committed to supporting the safety and welfare of Palestinians amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
“We certainly feel deep concerns and empathy for the people of Palestine. We will also continue to send prayers to them, especially those remaining steadfast in Gaza,” he remarked.
Muzayyad emphasized that Baznas’ mission in Palestine extends beyond emergency logistics, noting the agency’s involvement in restoring education services and vital infrastructure.
“In addition to rolling out consumptive aid programs, we are also arranging scholarships for Palestinian residents to pursue higher education here,” he said, adding that Baznas would coordinate with partner universities.
He further noted that cooperation with foreign partners such as 4TDK is intended to strengthen Baznas’ capacity to channel donations raised by Indonesians to Palestine in an effective, targeted, and impactful manner.
Iman Damara, distribution coordinator at Baznas’ Palestine Task Force, noted that the two organizations had previously partnered in sending Rp3 billion (US$168,000) worth of aid to Palestine during Ramadan in the form of tents, mosque supplies, and iftar meals.
Meanwhile, Director of 4TDK in Egypt, Yacoub Alghandour, lauded the Indonesian public for consistently highlighting humanitarian issues in Palestine.
A Palestinian himself, he described Indonesia’s unwavering support as evidence of the strong emotional bond between the two peoples.
He also expressed hope that 4TDK would continue working with Indonesian partners to support recovery efforts in Palestine.
