
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 15,044 transport workers have so far received over P55.3 million worth of assistance as part of efforts to cushion the effects of oil prices, the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) said Tuesday.
According to Dole, the financial assistance was provided through the TUPAD-Tuloy Pasada Program, which began in April this year.

Under the TUPAD-Tuloy Pasada Program, Dole—in partnership with the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board—provides temporary employment and income support to drivers and other transport workers affected by fuel price increases.

“Recently, assistance was extended to maritime transport workers in the Dinagat Islands, covering beneficiaries from passenger vessels operating in the province,” DOLE said in a statement.
“The expansion reflects the government’s efforts to support more transport workers affected by the economic consequences of global events,” it added.
Dole then maintained that it continues to enhance and deliver responsive programs that provide immediate relief to workers while helping sustain vital transport services for the commuting public. /mr
