Amazon Prime Day is back, and the retailer is bringing its annual shopping day to the masses earlier than ever this year.
Amazon Prime Day 2026 takes place from June 23 to 26 this year. That breaks with tradition, as Prime Day has typically been held in July as a counter to the busy Black Friday period (think of it like a “Christmas in July” shopping event). Prime Day has also expanded beyond just a single day, with recent events spanning more than 48 hours. Last year’s Prime Day dates, for example, ran from July 8 to 11. This year’s Prime Day also spans multiple days.
Amazon revealed June 23-26 as the official 2026 Prime Day date, confirming that it is being moved up to June this year. Previous Prime Days have taken place around the second or third weeks of the month, so this is in keeping with the past years.

What Are the Best Prime Day Deals 2026?
Amazon has once-again promised “millions” of deals across their entire site, with a press release for 2026 teasing “deep discounts” across more than 35 categories on the site. In particular, key shopping categories identified by Amazon for Prime Day are clothing, beauty, kitchen, home and electronics.
Amazon devices on sale for Prime Day include Fire TV models, Blink security cameras and eero wireless products. Amazon’s slate of Alexa-enabled devices always go on sale, and the site says the Ring Battery Doorbell and Fire TV Stick HD were two of the event’s best-selling items last year. The Amazon Kindle is also seeing a big discount.

What Are People Buying During Prime Day?
While there are deals to be had across a swath of categories — think everything from big screen TVs to designer sunglasses — most people appear to be prioritizing everyday essentials this year instead of big-ticket purchases. The U.S. inflation rate in the U.S. rose to 4.2% in May, up from 3.8% in April, and many shoppers are still reeling from the recent rise in grocery and gas prices. They’ll be using Prime Day to stock up on daily necessities and household products that they can use right away.
As of this writing, we’re seeing fast moving sales on detergent, trash bags, paper towels and cleaning supplies — not exactly the sexiest categories, but a reflection of where consumer spending is this year.
Amazon Prime members, meantime, can also score savings on groceries with up to 35% off grocery essentials. Prime members also get free grocery delivery to their door.

As mentioned earlier, this is one of the only times Amazon Prime Day has deviated from its July dates. Prime Day was moved to October in 2020 due to the pandemic. The success of that event led Amazon to launch a second Prime-exclusive deals event in October, which is now known as Prime Big Deal Days.
Last year’s top Prime Day deals saw savings on best-selling brands like Apple, BIODANCE, Dyson, Medicube, Philips Sonicare, Samsung and more.
Amazon reported that the 2025 Prime Day event was “bigger than any previous four-day period,” with “record sales and more items sold during the four days.” The site also says that customers “saved billions on deals across more than 35 product categories—more savings than any previous Prime Day event.”
Insight from Adobe Analytics, meantime, predict a record $26.3 billion will be spent online this week. Adobe says that is more than what consumers spent on Cyber Monday and Black Friday 2025 combined.
Prime Day isn’t the only savings event happening this week: Walmart, Target and Best Buy also have competing Prime Day sales to offer an alternative to Amazon.
