
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday visited the wake of the three students killed in the school shooting incident in Tacloban City.
According to the Office of the Vice President, Duterte extended her condolences to the families and offered prayers for the victims.

The students were killed while several others were wounded after two male students, aged 14 and 15, opened fire inside the San Jose National High School on Monday morning.

Three counts of murder with multiple frustrated murder and physical injury complaints have been filed against the 15-year-old.
Previously, Duterte made a statement expressing sadness over the death and injuries of the students.
She added that the incident must serve as a wake-up call to the current administration, saying the tragedy exposed serious gaps in the government’s ability to protect young people.

Chris Lorenz Tanglao Fabian, one of the victims, was hailed a hero after he was killed trying to protect his classmates from the two suspects.

The 15-year-old Fabian tried to block the door to prevent the shooters from entering their classroom before he was shot and eventually died. /das
