President Trump on Wednesday canceled plans to sign a housing affordability bill passed with bipartisan support over his push for Congress to pass voter ID legislation.
“Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The president is also set to huddle at the Capitol with Senate Republicans on Wednesday, as they are at odds over his legislative priorities.
On Tuesday night, Trump lashed out at the GOP senators who supported an Iran war powers resolution earlier in the day. “Four Republican Losers voted with the Dumocrats, and Iran asked my people, ‘what does that all mean?’ These Senators have just made my job more difficult, but I will get it done, one way or the other, because I always get it done!” the president wrote in a Truth Social post.
Trump has a busy day overall.
After lunch with Senate Republicans, he’ll meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House, is expected to meet with defense contractors and will attend the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, where he will deliver remarks in honor of the U.S.’s 250th anniversary.
