Government Secondary School, Karu, FCT, David Hall International College, Lagos and 10 other secondary schools from different states in Nigeria will begin the race for the 26th Milo National School Basketball Championship title scheduled to commence June 27th at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Participants in the boys’ category include Father O’Connell Science College, Niger, King Amachree Academy, Rivers, Government Secondary School, FCT, David Hall International College, Lagos, Family Support Programme Secondary School, Katsina and Urhobo College, Delta.
In the girls’ category, the schools are Lanreleke Academy, Osun, St. Jude Girls Secondary School, Bayelsa, Government Secondary School, Benue, Ado Grammar School, Ekiti, Urhobo College, Delta and Government Girls College, Bauchi.
Speaking ahead of the national finals, Managing Director of Nestlé Nigeria, Boladale Odunlami, highlighted the impact the championship has made since its inception.
“The Milo School Basketball Championship began with a simple ambition: to create a platform where young Nigerians could discover their talents, build confidence and develop the values needed to become champions both on and off the court,” he said.
According to him, the championship has grown into one of Nigeria’s most respected school sports platforms, bringing together athletes, schools, coaches, teachers and families from across the country.
Nestlé Nigeria’s Category Manager for Beverages, Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, said the company remains committed to supporting youth development through sports.
