Abubakar pledges to take Nigerian polo to greater heights

The newly elected Chairman of Nigerian Polo Association, (NPA), Suleiman Abubakar, has pledged consolidation and steadfast promotion of the noble game of kings in the country and beyond.

Abubakar made this pledge in Ibadan shortly after he was elected as the new Chairman of the Nigeria Polo Authority.

The Chairman who thanked the Nigerian polo family for the confidence reposed in him to lead the NPA said his relentless crusade of expanding the frontiers of Nigerian polo would be sustained in a way that would truly reflect Nigeria’s status as a power house of African polo.

“Polo is one of the biggest corporate sports with huge marketing potential and the NPA must brace up to hosting a major tournament of its own, if all the accredited clubs must hold their annual tournaments within the season.

“By reason of its rich and esteemed history, its great capacity and the camaraderie, this noble game of polo stands on the threshold of a new era of great achievement in the years to come,” the NPA boss declared in his acceptance speech.

Abubakar also disclosed plans for the establishment of the National Polo Centre in Abuja and the pursuit of the Nigerian Gold Cup Open Tournament, an annual event to gallop-off fully from next year.
