COTABATO CITY — The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) reaffirmed on Thursday the government’s “strong commitment” to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) following peace rallies organized by supporters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Cotabato City and Lanao del Sur, where participants called for the full implementation of the landmark peace agreement.
In a statement, Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento said the Philippine government remains fully committed to the successful implementation of the CAB and the continued advancement of the Bangsamoro peace process.
The statement came after the MILF and its supporters underscored during the rally the importance of completing the remaining provisions of the CAB, the landmark agreement between the government and the MILF that paved the way for the establishment of the Bangsamoro region in 2019.
