Two persons, Ayodeji Adetunji, 32, and Usman Umaru, 35, have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged stealing and receiving of stolen properties.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, Ayodeji Adetunji, on or about June 14, 2026 at Owode community, did break into the residence of Hon. Lanre Ogunsuyi, Olatunji Taiwo, Oguntunase Motunrayo, Victory Oluleye and Raimi Rafat, with intent to commit felony.
Oriyomi said on the same date and place, the defendant did steal food items, in dominoes, milo, milk, spaghetti, soaps, electric wire, ear pod and tourobi light valued N86,000, property of Hon. Lanre Ogunsuyi and Raimi Rafat of Ado-Ekiti.
“On the same date and place, the defendant did steal one generator, 3Kg Gas Cylinder, 4 Sewing Machines, 2 power banks, 6 different Android phones, 1 Techno small phone and other valuables valued N1,860,000, property of Hon. Lanre Ogunsuyi, Olatunji Taiwo, Oguntunase Motunrayo, and Victory Oluleye”.
The prosecutor added that Usman Umaru and others now at large on the same date and place, did dishonestly receive stolen properties from Ayodeji Adetunji knowing fully well that same was stolen properties from the five persons above.
ASP Oriyomi said the offence committed is contrary and punishable under Section 322(b), 302(1), 343 of the Criminal Law Ekiti State 2021.
Counsel to the defendants, Olusoji Oladele, urged the court to admit his clients to bail, that they will not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail of N100,000 with two surgeries each in like sum and evidence of 3-years tax clearance.
The case was adjourned until July 10, 2026 for hearing.
