
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Troops from the 10th Infantry Division (10ID) assisted local firefighters in extinguishing the fire that hit a passenger bus in Barangay Tuboran, Mawab, in Davao de Oro, a military official said.
Maj. Ruben Gadut, 10ID Public Affairs Office chief, said that a Davao Metro Shuttle bus bound for New Bataan town caught fire at Km. 67 on Monday.

Upon receiving the report, responding troops deployed the division’s fire truck to assist the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other agencies in containing the blaze, securing the highway, and ensuring the safety of nearby residents.

Major Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, commended the coordinated effort and emphasized the military’s role in emergency response and disaster management.
“The swift response of our troops reflects the Philippine Army’s commitment to serve beyond its primary mission. Whenever lives are at risk, our soldiers stand ready to assist, protect, and support our communities alongside our partner agencies,” Gadut quoted Luzon as saying.
The fire was declared out at about 6 p.m. No injuries were reported among the passengers, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by local authorities./coa
