
MANILA, Philippines — Several individuals were arrested Tuesday during the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally along Edsa, with some allegedly punching police officers during a confrontation.
An Inquirer journalist at the scene witnessed at least three arrests as of 9 a.m.
The arrests came after tensions escalated between rally participants and law enforcers deployed in the area.

Authorities have yet to disclose the total number of those arrested or the charges they may face.
INC confirmed in a statement that the Edsa rally is to call for transparency, accountability, justice, and peace after the Ombudsman announced Monday that it was set to file a non-bailable plunder case against Senator Rodante Marcoleta before the Sandiganbayan.
