
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Around 20 power generation companies operating in the Visayas have been ordered to explain possible lapses in maintaining a stable electricity supply. They are among 164 power generation firms nationwide that were issued show-cause orders by the Department of Energy (DOE) for possible violations of laws and regulations governing public utilities, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said on Monday, June 29. Of the 164 firms, about 80 are based in Luzon, while 11 operate in off-grid or remote areas that are not connected to the national power grid.
