EXCLUSIVE: Premiering in September 1994, Party of Five set the career trajectory of its young stars, led by Neve Campbell, and its first-time creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman. Almost 32 years later, Campbell is reuniting with Keyser for another family drama, The Shore, which has been set up for development at HBO Max.
Campbell is attached to star in the project, written by Keyser based on the coming-of-age novel by Katie Runde, with Anonymous Content and Brad Falchuk‘s Teley-Vision producing.
The Shore is a multigenerational family drama set over the course of a summer on the Jersey Shore.
Keyser and Campbell executive produce alongside Jeremy Stern, David Levine and Garrett Kemble for Anonymous Content as well as Falchuk and Mikkel Bondeson for Teley-Vision. Co-executive producing is Teley-Vision’s Meg Doyle. Anonymous developed and packaged the project in house alongside Campbell, Keyser and Falchuk.
HBO Max has been leaning into classic TV drama genres — medical, police, legal and family shows — all intended to return yearly for sizable runs at reasonable budgets. The model was pioneered by the streamer’s Emmy-winning The Pitt, which produces 15-episode seasons each year. In the family drama arena, HBO Max has the pilot How to Survive Without Me starring Ray Romano, Kaley Cuoco and Joshua Jackson.

After an inauspicious start, Party of Five became a critical and ratings hit that aired on Fox for six seasons and spawned a spinoff, Time of Your Life. Two decades later, Keyser and Lippman reunited for a reboot, which ran on Freeform for one season.
The Shore marks Keyser’s return to HBO Max, where he served as executive producer and showrunner on Julia. He was creator, executive producer and showrunner of the Netflix series The Society and executive producer on the streamer’s The Abandons. Keyser is repped by Anonymous Content and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Campbell is filming the fifth and final season of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, on which she is an original cast member. She also recently reprised her signature role as Sidney Prescott in Scream 7 and recurred on Season 1 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal. Campbell is repped by Gersh, Anonymous Content and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

Anonymous Content produces with CBS Studios the upcoming Little House on the Prairie reboot, which premieres July 9 and already has been renewed for a second season by Netflix. At the global streamer, Anonymous recently produced the hit Sally Field-Lewis Pullman movie Remarkably Bright Creatures, and the company’s animated movie In Waves was acquired by Netflix after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
Runde’s The Shore, which is set on the coast of Maine, was published in 2022. She is repped by The Book Group and CAA. Falchuk, co-creator/executive producer of 9-1-1 and American Horror Story, is repped by WME and Gendler, Kelly & Cunningham.
