MANILA, Philippines — Three northbound lanes of the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) near the People Power Monument are now passable after a bus carrying rallyists for the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) protest blocking the way was moved back to White Plains Avenue on Wednesday morning.
In an advisory, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said concrete barriers along the northbound stretch of EDSA from Corinthian Gardens to White Plains, as well as those on the southbound side, had been adjusted to improve traffic flow.

“All three lanes in both directions are fully passable to traffic. The bus that previously obstructed the roadway has also been removed. Motorists are advised to exercise caution while traversing the area,” it added.
In an interview at the People Power Monument, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo said the bus moving back to free up more Edsa lanes was part of the police’s coordination with the rally organizers.

“The parked vehicles have been given a lane which they’re asked to occupy, but we’ve asked the bus to move so that it’s not just sitting on Edsa.”
The INC launched the rally early Tuesday morning in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who is facing an impending plunder case over an alleged undisclosed P75-million campaign donation he received while serving as a congressman before his successful 2025 senatorial bid.

The PNP said the Tuesday rally was held without a permit.
The Quezon City government later granted the INC a permit to hold an assembly along White Plains Avenue from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, with one of the conditions being that participants should not occupy EDSA./dp
