Working to bring Nessy Guerra and daughter back to Italy says Tajani

Foreign minister thanks counterpart Abdelatty after woman's release

The government is working to make it

possible for Nessy Guerra, an Italian woman currently obliged to

live in Egypt with her three-year-old daughter due to a custody

battle with her estranged Egyptian husband, to return to Italy,

Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on

Wednesday.

Tajani commented on the case via X following his intervention to

have Guerra released after she was taken from her home in Cairo

overnight and held at a police station.

"Nessy Guerra has been released and has already returned home

with her daughter," Tajani said.

"I express my gratitude to our Italian Embassy in Cairo for the

valuable work carried out.

"I thank (Egyptian Foreign) Minister Badr Abdelatty and the

Egyptian authorities for the cooperation shown.

"We continue to work to bring Nessy Guerra and her daughter back

to Italy as soon as possible".
