FBI Director Kash Patel is providing an update Wednesday on a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

The group has been at the center of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, with officials designating the gang as a foreign terrorist organization and invoking the Alien Enemies Act to deport alleged members. The administration’s use of the wartime law has sparked a series of legal challenges over President Trump’s sweeping deportation efforts.

Venezuela has also made headlines in recent months after the capture of ex-leader Nicolás Maduro, who is facing drug trafficking charges. He has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Patel will be joined by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and other DOJ officials.

The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
