Ubisoft has appointed former Amazon Games chief Christoph Hartmann as the general manager of Creative House 2, overseeing its strategic direction and long-term portfolio development.
Creative House 2 is one of the video game company’s Creative Houses that brings together Ubisoft teams and brands such as “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon” and “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.”
Multiplayer online battle arena game “March of Giants” will also be joining Creative House 2 after being acquired from Amazon (where it was previously developed by Hartmann and his team) by Ubisoft in December.
“Christoph is exactly the kind of leader we needed for Creative House 2 – a passionate gamer with a proven ability to bring out the best in creative teams and build franchises that last. His experience across development and publishing as well as his management style give him a rare understanding of what it takes to make great games,” said Yves Guillemot, the co-founder and CEO of Ubisoft, in a statement. “I am confident Christoph will elevate our teams and brands to new heights and deepen their connection with the dedicated players who love these franchises.”
Hartmann has worked in the video games industry for over two decades, recently as the vice president of Amazon Games. He exited the ecommerce giant earlier this year as the company shifted its gaming strategy.
Prior to Amazon, Hartmann spent 20 years at Take-Two Interactive, where he and led teams behind franchises such as “Borderlands,” “BioShock,” “Sid Meier’s Civilization,” “NBA 2K” and “XCOM,” as well as co-founding 2K games and serving as the president of the label until 2017.
