One of indie film’s most iconic “it girls,” Chloë Sevigny’s latest role in The Five-Star Weekend is sure to introduce her to a broader audience.
The Oscar nominee admitted she was originally worried the Peacock drama series, all episodes of which are available to stream July 9, would be “too mainstream” for her fanbase, but knew her mom is “gonna love it.”
“I was like, I don’t know if my audience will really like this, if my fans will really get this,” she said on Today. “But I was like, you know what? My mom will finally be able to walk through the grocery store and not have an awkward conversation about something that I’m on.”
Sevigny continued, “So, it’s my gift to my mother. I know that her and all of her friends are gonna love it and everybody in the grocery store is gonna run up and be like, ‘Oh, this is the best show ever!'”
Based on the 2023 novel by Elin Hilderbrand, The Five-Star Weekend stars Jennifer Garner as food blogger Hollis Shaw, who hosts a weekend with her friends at her Nantucket home following the death of her husband.
Developed for Peacock by Bekah Brunstetter, the series also stars Sevigny, Regina Hall, Gemma Chan, D’Arcy Carden, Harlow Jane and Timothy Olyphant.
