
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has approved the construction of 20.37 kilometres of township roads across three local government areas of Katsina State as part of efforts to improve urban infrastructure and boost economic activities.
The approval was granted on Wednesday during the 10th Regular Meeting of the Katsina State Executive Council for 2026, held at the Government House, Katsina.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Sani Ingawa, said the council approved contracts for the dualisation of the 3.0-kilometre Mashi Township Road, the construction of 6.67 kilometres of township roads in Bakori, and 10.7 kilometres of township roads in Malumfashi.
He said the projects form part of Radda’s commitment to expanding and modernising road infrastructure across major towns in the state.

He said, “The road projects will improve connectivity, facilitate economic activities, and enhance the quality of life for residents in the benefiting communities.
“The projects are expected to ease movement within the affected towns, improve access to businesses and public facilities, and support socio-economic development.
The road construction programme aligns with the administration’s infrastructure development agenda aimed at providing durable roads that will stimulate commerce and improve transportation”, he added.
The approvals were part of decisions taken by the State Executive Council on key development initiatives across various sectors during its weekly meeting chaired by Governor Radda.
