Penelope Cruz isn’t splitting hairs with her dramatic new ‘do.

The Invite actress debuted a fresh bobbed haircut dubbed by her stylist Dimitris Giannetos as the “Weekend Bob.”

“I wanted to create for Penelope something fresh and effortless,” Giannetos posted on Instagram June 27 alongside a photo of the bob. “Keep the luxury of the hair seen through the between chin/shoulder fresh cut but give an undone flair with a lot of texture just the energy you have on a weekend! Something to make u feel free!”

In the photo, Cruz—who shares kids Leo, 15, and Luna, 12, with husband Javier Bardem—posed against a wall wearing a white T-shirt with a black sweater over the shoulders, showing off the tousled, blonde-highlighted hairstyle.

And the Oscar winner has great respect for tresses. After all, her mom ran a beauty salon in Madrid when she was growing up.

“All my tips and tricks would be from that,” Cruz shared in an interview with Allure published July 2. “I learned how to cut hair. I learned how to do blow dry. I learned how to do the perm.”

That shear talent certainly came in handy not just for the 52-year-old, but also for her best friend Salma Hayek.

“Salma called me one day many years ago,” Cruz recalled, “and she said, ‘I have a premiere, I need you to do my hair and makeup. But the light went off in my house. We have no electricity, no light. But you need to come because also my hair and makeup team canceled.’”

Of course, Cruz couldn’t say no to such an ask, so she improvised as best as she could in such a hairy situation.

“I put some candles and I did hair and makeup for her,” she remembered. “And she went to the premiere and everything was fine.”

Cruz added with a laugh, “I deserve that credit.”
