
Prime Minister Robert Abela joined US Ambassador Somers W. Farkas and other guests at the United States Embassy’s Freedom 250 reception, celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The event brought together Maltese government officials, business leaders, academics, members of the diplomatic corps and other guests to mark the milestone and celebrate the longstanding relationship between Malta and the United States.
During the reception, Ambassador Farkas said the occasion was not only an opportunity to reflect on America’s history but also to strengthen future cooperation between the two countries, highlighting ongoing partnerships in areas including security, innovation and economic development.
President Myriam Spiteri Debono also addressed those in attendance, welcoming the progress made in bilateral relations over the past year and reaffirming Malta’s commitment to working with the United States on shared global challenges.
The evening featured performances by Sarah Bonnici and American singer Mariela Palencia, a joint colour guard by the Armed Forces of Malta and the US Marine Security Guard, excerpts from the musical Grease, and a display of classic American cars.
